A Lanky Rat

Here is the latest in wool;  a lanky, lean rat.
He was fun and a half to make.

Unfortunately, I don't have my photo editing programs uploaded to the new computer yet.

Originally he was going to have sculpted feet.  Here they are.

I decided they were a bit too gruesome to fit his little woolen personality.

How do YOU do it?

I have finally come to the realization that it isn't that I don't have enough time to create;  it is that I feel guilty using the time to do something that I find so enjoyable, even though it brings in money.

I told myself that I would be able to stay home and still get lots of work done, but that hasn't been the case.  There is always one more load of laundry, one more errand, one more you-name-it that I think I need to do before I get to my own work.

And then I never get to my own work.  Once the kids are home, all bets are off.

Has anyone else out there struggled with similar issues?  If so, how did you handle it? 

I was thinking that I might need to move my studio elsewhere, but I don't know how efficient that will be in the long run.  Could it make things worse?

Baba Yaga Revisited

This Baba Yaga is a far more gentle soul than my last one, to be sure. 

This one is less a child eater and more of a forrest guardian.

She is made of spun cotton, paperclay and wool.

Hallelujah! I'm Back!

What a tribulation!  I have had a "somewhat" working computer for months, which means I could post items to some sites, but was unable to access others.  Very odd, no?  At times, I was able to load new bits to my etsy site, other times not.  The one constant was that I was not able to get into my blogger postings.  Distressing!

But my new and well working computer has fixed the problem and I am back.   I feel as though it will take me months to catch up with everyone and what has been going on in your lives.  Glad to be back, especially in October, when so many artists are making fantastic dolls/gee-gaws/ornies to post.  I can't wait to see everything!

Just to have something to share, here is a 5 inch doll that is composite over cloth with an encaustic finish.  Odd, huh?  Sometimes I don't understand myself!

New Felt for Fall

I tried blending some needle felting with some lovely old woolen fabrics to create this pumpkin lady and her baby.

She is wired for 'poseability'.

She still needs a little tidying up, but should be done and ready for sale by tonight.

Home again, home again...

...and I FINALLY have something new to post.

I made this little kitty for my husband's auntie; a pocket sized memory of her own cat.



She has her own tiny mouse and a green ball.

This is her back view. She is a pudgster...just like the real one!

I have been absent for a bit. I have been making many things, but haven't had the time to take great photos and post them.

This shot was taken as we were getting ready to go to the plane, so I didn't have too much time to worry about background and lighting and such.

Maybe I would be better off not fretting too much about the photos. I would certainly be able to show more of what I do.

And wait until I show what I found in the antique malls!
